In the Berlin city-region (Germany), the Food Policy Council is strengthening the connection between policy-making and neighbourhood realities. Through the perspective of Saskia Richartz, member of the Berlin Food Policy Council and the FoodCLIC Berlin Living Lab team, and Amna Alhashemi, project manager in the same organisation, the video explores how identifying vulnerable neighbourhoods helps ground policy work in the experiences of disadvantaged communities. The interview highlights how the Council works at different levels: while engaging with political decision-making processes at city level, it also supports community-based initiatives in specific neighbourhoods. One concrete example is the implementation of a food hub, a local space where residents come together to cook, share meals and engage in food-related activities, fostering social connection and improving access to healthy food.
