Coming soon: the European Online Platform for Food Policy Networks!
To strengthen fairer, more resilient, and more sustainable food systems, FoodCLIC will launch the European Platform for Food Policy Networks on October 13, 2025: an online space where networks and groups working on food and food policy across Europe can connect, share knowledge, and collaborate to increase their impact.
Why a European Platform for Food Policy Networks?
A comparative analysis of over one hundred existing platforms conducted by FoodCLIC highlighted the lack of an environment capable of structurally connecting Food Policy Networks and similar food-focused working groups and facilitating Europe-wide dialogue between local actors and supranational institutions. The Platform was created to integrate and enhance what already exists -without duplicating it - responding to real and shared needs.
Who is it for?
The platform is designed for Food Policy Networks, Food Policy Councils, associations, and other forms of multi-stakeholder coordination active in the food system at urban, regional, or national level. It recognizes and values the diversity of actors involved - public administrations, civil society, research, businesses, and communities-offering an inclusive space to present activities, share resources, and build strategic collaborations.
What does it offer?
- Connection & recognition — Making networks visible and discoverable, facilitating encounters with partners who share similar skills and interests.
- Community & networking — Supporting an active European community, capable of ongoing exchange and positioning in the food policy debate.
- Knowledge sharing — Providing resources, documents, and best practices for the exchange of concrete solutions and peer learning.
- Collaboration & opportunities — Enabling joint initiatives, participation in events, and the development of shared positions to amplify impact.
- Safe and moderated communication — Ensuring a protected and well-managed dialogue environment, focused on quality, respect, and inclusiveness.
A co-design journey
The Platform is the result of a collaborative and iterative process involving food policy networks, public institutions, civil society organizations, and research centers from across Europe. Workshops and consultations have helped define its vision, structure, and functionalities, guided by shared values: inclusion, transparency, and collaboration.
What's in for network and council representatives?
With the European Platform for Food Policy Networks & Councils, local experiences become more visible and influential even at the supranational level. The new digital environment makes resources and initiatives accessible and connected, facilitating mutual learning, operational coordination, and a stronger collective voice in European decision-making processes.
